Is anyone heading to the Role Play Convention in Cologne these days?

Smoke underwater

Hello readers! :D


Being underwater was always fascinating to me.
I love the light, the dull sound, the feeling of being surrounded by water and the comfort of floating in it.
And on the other hand you have this dull pressure, the knowing that you cannot fucking breathe and that you in fact don't have save ground under your feet to stand on. Not to mention all the known and unknown dangers that water holds. Which is why I never seriously considered to get a diver's license. The ocean is fucking terrifying!

Back to drawing!
This one started with a small scribble in my sketchbook, and I first wanted to draw the thing again on bigger, better paper and work from there. But I shortly after just scanned the sketch and worked from there. I'm still not over how amazing my new cintiq pen is. It's so amazing, really!

I really like the image of underwater stuff, but for some reason I hardly ever draw it? Maybe I should think of a mermaid story or something similar...

For comparison, this is the original sketch:

The biggest problem I had with inking (no matter if digital or analog techniques) is that I always had the feeling that so much of the dynamic of the original sketch gets lost when I do it, and it was so frustrating to see how amazing other people draw all kinds of dynamic stuff with ink. But I think I'm coming closer to the look I want to achieve every time I draw now, and that really really makes me happy :)

Shading tryout.

Actually I don't have much to say today. I'm desperatly trying to throw together an usable portfolio so I can go become a trainee somewhere for 6 month... guess I'll tell you more on that topic in a later post, so back to this one. (But if anyone has a hot tip or advice or anything for a design/illustration/2D animation internship, just contact me ;) )

It's just trying out colors and shading. Who cares for backgrounds! (or swords for that matter)

Strage pose is strage although I drew this one with help of a stock photo. Also I think the foot is either enormously stretchable or broken. Ouch.

Mah new PC wallpaper

YEEEEAAAHHHH!

Since I'm drawing basically nothing else than storyboards and rotoscoping, I'm actually getting better at sketching on digital surface directly.
So I started doodling around and after a couple of minutes I had my new wallpaper:

But since I have 2 monitors, I needed a second one and spend another 15 minutes drawing this.

They are rough and sketchy and spontaneous and I love them. Personally I think these are some of my best works of the last months. There may have been more complex and time consuming stuff, like the stuff I did for my courses, but this is how I love to draw. Only pencil is better.
 What do you think? :D

NEXT will be a complication of videos I've  produced with various teams on my courses, so you'll finally see what I'm doing all day long when I'm not posting on this blog ;)

Happy new year!

Yeahhh it's a little too late, but the last time was - is - still stressy... ^^° But I've got some stuff in the backhand I'll post at the end of semester so that you can see what I'm working on all day ;)

The first one is my favourite :D

As I said before, I did the storyboard for my film classes and I really like the format. Also I love pictures that look like movie stills, when characters are not just posing or something but are acutally doing stuff... It's more dynamic and lifelike and everything, and I have a looooooooong road to go till I get there XD But it's fun! I hope I'll have some more time in the semester break...

So, serious stuff next time. Until then - Happy January! :D

It's nearly christmas, have some pics :D

First - I've finally got a tumblr ;) I'll upload the pics I'll post here as well as the old stuff and I reblog stuff I like and love, mostly art/design/animation/drawing and illustration stuff ;D
BUT the background information and my gibberish will stay here, because I'm one of these persons who don't like to read much text on tumblr ;)

I spent the most time this semester with the storyboard for our music video so I had to do lots of thumbnails and sketches on my gt, and HELL do I know little about layout and composition (good thing I had support by our cam girl Thesa >o<) . Most of it was try and error, but that 16:9 format is quite interesting, and I started to do some random sketches with my OCs, and I kinda like the results 8D I'd like to post some pics from the actual storyboard, too, but I have to go back and clarify that with my group, cuz Idk how touchy they are about "prepublications" ... ^^°
So, enough talking, PICTURES! :D

and OH GAWD it's been more than a month since my last post... Argh. Okay. Probably there won't be a lot more the next time either... D: Because my studies are STRESSFUL AS HELL. Like, before christmas, I have to do an interview with a storyboard/concept person, we have to shoot our music video, shoot our documentary, record an audio drama and write an exam and do some paper for another course.

Help me.... :'D

Okay, most of these are group works, so the pressure and work is somehow spread cuz nobody has to work alone. But still, it's a shitload of work...

BUT, always look at the bright side of life, eh? 8D

By the way, our music video will be to the song "Space Invaders" of the band "Pornophonique" :D

Hey hello people!

Yesterday my beloved graphic tablet payed the debt of nature. May it rest in peace. Beware! Even wacom tablets will get broken if you soak them in coffee a night long...
That happend some time before. Actually, inbetween it was working fine and I forgot about that accident, but I unscrewed it after it did nothing (or better, nothing normal) anymore, and there is rust and/or oxidation on the active surface, so...
Handle your grapic tablet with care! They can work fine for more than just 4 years. Seriously! >_<

Okay, enough of this. I scribbled with pencils again! :D

Okay, maybe this aint a scribble anymore. I just couln't sleep at night and had to draw a dancing scene, and I somehow got lost on the scribble and began to threw copic color on it, and at last I also found my white ink pen and added some bubbles.

Blue blue blue! Yeah, the light here isn't the best, so it's even more sketchy in daylight....
...in fact, the light here is pretty shitty. Anyone knows these daylight-simulation-lamps? Are they worth the money? :/ I'm thinking of buying one as a birthday present for myself... XD

By the way, I'm nearly done with the stuff for this semester. Only one more research paper and I'm done. YEAH!! Holidays! Time for interesting private projects! Finally time to draw my comic! And fun! Action! Party! 8D or, actualy, lots of being-awake-at-night, sleeping the whole day, eating stuff you shouln't and incredible lazyness...

How are you doin?

I'm currently stuck in the last weeks of my first term of design studies, YAY! Next semester will be more specified than this one (we have ten subjects now and will chose 3 of them to work on).

Soo... but of course I'm studying very, very hard right now (yeah, see these as some last words of a soul in despair :'D), there are still only scribbles, but YES, we absolutely love scribbles! That's also why you'll probably have them in the next post, too :'D

Yep, and this is what I produce when I'm trying to draw in a museum. First I took all my patience and drew some folds of a statue, and then I just wanted to take that lawn chair and hit somebody. Don't worry, I didn't.But that museum is fascinating, and a labyrinth... I don't think I would have found out of there alone :'D

Many of my friends said they absolutely love this picture and adore her beauty and stuff and like that her face is detailed while the rest is still very sketchy. I think mainly she's too thin, even if this chara is supposed to be that thin... what do you think? :D

 A fellow student uses such a little suitcase in classes. I love it! It's so cute and different from all these same looking handbags ;D Don't you think? ^^

Now that week was exhausting.

Not even because of lots of homework or something, but because we have to choose 3 of 10 classes next month, and that leads to discussions who will get in which course. Phew.

... and I have only boring stuff to tell you. But wow, 5000 hits on this blog. Thank you guys! :D

Ya well... I don't really have some. No really. I have stuff to do. Studying, working... that kind of stuff, you know?

"We thought you're studying DESIGN! AINT THAT WITH PICTURES!"

Not .... yet???? Actually it's amazing how little we've done 'til now. The only subject which hits in with the power of a jumbo jet is Film/Animation, where we have to script, shoot and produce a commercial till the end of term. I mean, WHAT THE FUCK. THIS IS AMAZING.
Aaaand seems like a shitload of stress. YAY! Let's hope the rest of the subjects won't take too much space in the date book XD

But! Months ago I told you about that comic project I'm working on. I didn't forget that thing!

This is the status:

 Okay, before you start to shitstorm me with "YOU STOLE THAT FROM ELEMENTARY!!!111ONE", that's not her real name. And I didn't watch the series (yet). ;)

So! The only thing I have to do now is work over these pages again, complete the other 2 parts, work over them again, draw them, ink them, scan them, correct them, letter them...... I have to go, I have a film project to do. Bye!! :D

Seriously.

Okay, in fact "University of applied Sciences" means "Fachhochschule", but most people will rather use FH  ([ɛf.haː]) than the longer version. Because people are lazy ;D

So! My courses in Nuremberg will start tomorrow, beginning with photography, and I'm excited how the stuff will be XD (and if I'll have any free time left ;) ) 

Oh yeah, and I somehow made it into a student dorm (or hall of residence, if you prefer british english ;D) after I paniced a long time where I should live that time ^^ Everything went well! Its amazing, I hope it'll stay that way XD
