Smoke underwater

Hello readers! :D


Being underwater was always fascinating to me.
I love the light, the dull sound, the feeling of being surrounded by water and the comfort of floating in it.
And on the other hand you have this dull pressure, the knowing that you cannot fucking breathe and that you in fact don't have save ground under your feet to stand on. Not to mention all the known and unknown dangers that water holds. Which is why I never seriously considered to get a diver's license. The ocean is fucking terrifying!

Back to drawing!
This one started with a small scribble in my sketchbook, and I first wanted to draw the thing again on bigger, better paper and work from there. But I shortly after just scanned the sketch and worked from there. I'm still not over how amazing my new cintiq pen is. It's so amazing, really!

I really like the image of underwater stuff, but for some reason I hardly ever draw it? Maybe I should think of a mermaid story or something similar...

The biggest problem I had with inking (no matter if digital or analog techniques) is that I always had the feeling that so much of the dynamic of the original sketch gets lost when I do it, and it was so frustrating to see how amazing other people draw all kinds of dynamic stuff with ink. But I think I'm coming closer to the look I want to achieve every time I draw now, and that really really makes me happy :)

Dusk and dawn

Gooood morning friends and followers!

Yep, it's been a while again, uah. No excuse for that.
But I'm trying to do some quality contend again, why I tried so sign up for illustration classes again - tried, because I don't know yet if I'll be in it. Apparently there are too many students applying for that class this year, so they have to do a small application procedure fist. So much for "free choice of classes"! Meh.

Anyways, I helped a group of film students with their motion graphic, so there'll be possibly a short animation to look at again :D
Btw, people seem to love animation, my miniclip of a ballerina got more than 1,000 notes on tumblr, (Thank you for that!) while the rest of my posts got barely 10, or even less >o<

BUT ANIMATIONS ARE EXHAUSTING!!

Yah, these two again.
Emma is waiting for the night to come, while Locks is still laying awake in the morning light.

First I just wanted to draw a pic of these two, standing somewhere smoking cigarettes, but somehow it turned out to be like this. They are similar, but somehow on different paths, in the same boat but turning in different directions.
The light setup was a new one, and I feel like I'm getting better in skipping the analog step of sketching, to a complete digital pic. What do you think?

Last post of the year!

... and I'm sick.
Like, literally, I can hardly speak and my nose is runny and my eyes 're streaming. Yikes.

It's nearly christmas, have some pics :D

Howdy, fellas! :D

First - I've finally got a tumblr ;) I'll upload the pics I'll post here as well as the old stuff and I reblog stuff I like and love, mostly art/design/animation/drawing and illustration stuff ;D
BUT the background information and my gibberish will stay here, because I'm one of these persons who don't like to read much text on tumblr ;)

I spent the most time this semester with the storyboard for our music video so I had to do lots of thumbnails and sketches on my gt, and HELL do I know little about layout and composition (good thing I had support by our cam girl Thesa >o<) . Most of it was try and error, but that 16:9 format is quite interesting, and I started to do some random sketches with my OCs, and I kinda like the results 8D I'd like to post some pics from the actual storyboard, too, but I have to go back and clarify that with my group, cuz Idk how touchy they are about "prepublications" ... ^^°
So, enough talking, PICTURES! :D

Freehand Animation!

And I'm sitting in front of my pc all day :'D Because besides the animation project for my film class I also try out animation for myself XD

Maybe I'll try out coloring it (and get out the mistakes, gnnn... that damn smoke just dosen't look real! It would be probably easier if I'd smoke myself XD)

He likes stuff to be simple ;) The other things he likes are coffee, cigarettes, sports, Emma, Otis and his cat. There are grounds for the assumption that his wadrobe includes only his uniform, some black t-shirts and trunks, and, like, 20 times the same white shirt and jeans. But that's just a wild guess XD
And again, any wild guess? ;D

Scribbling....

....and sketching all day long.


Okay, that was a lie, I was barely home today. But I made some sketch of that comic project I'm currently (trying to) working on.... It's kind of shitty because the four sites that are ready (except of the post-editing and lettering) are gone with the portfolio for Nuremberg. Which means I'll have them back by the middle of July or something D: (And than I have to terrorize a certain person with a A3 - scanner to scan that stuff for me... 8D )

But well, maybe I'll have about a whole chapter than... Let's say we'll see at the beginning of august how far I got ;) It's 8 sites by now, and it's growing fast - at least in my head XD

So, have a sketch now.

42!

Hey out there! :D

It's the unbelieveble 42. blogpost with my pictures! 8D That means I have only 9958 posts 'til 10.000! Should be easy to do. ;)

I love Shar's coat and his haircolor in this pic, and I want that 42-shirt ;D

This time, the outlines are just pencil on copy paper,  scanned and than colored with photoshop. It's all kind of rough, but I think I like that more than a clean, sterile look... and at last this fits the character of this guy better ;)

Hey out there!

Yes, I draw Kakao* Cards, too. ;D (I'm not sure if they exist in english) And there will be some more the next time.
Let's start with one I drew some time ago, when my copics were still new XD There was a sudden character change on the picture when I realized that I had no idea how to draw blonde hair (I figured it out somehow now...). So he got a slightly different hairstyle and some changes in face and chlothes, and viòla, Othis was there XD

 

Smoking, coffee-drinking guy again... Guess I have a pattern there XD

Yet another experiment

Hi out there! :D

I just wanted to see how the colors work in this one, so I took a (s/w) photograph, traced the rough outlines and scribbled the colours onto the picture.

It's just a sketch, but I really like it...
